Short Answer (So You Don’t Waste Time)

Short Answer Image

First, the name. ArborPro (arborprousa.com) and Arb Pro (arbprosoftware.com) are two different companies. If you are looking for Arb Pro, the UK tree contracting CRM, that comparison is here.

ArborPro is a tree inventory and GIS platform, built for municipalities, universities, utilities and consulting arborists. It maps and catalogs trees, and it does that well. If a defensible inventory is all you need, it may genuinely be the better fit.

ArboStar does the inventory and everything around ittree mapping that feeds proposals, schedules, crews and invoices. If you run a tree care business rather than an urban forest, that is the difference.

Why Tree Care Companies Move Away from ArborPro

Most companies don’t switch because of one feature – they switch because of daily friction.

The inventory is excellent, but the quoting still happens somewhere else.
Crew scheduling and dispatch live in a second system, or on paper.
Invoices and payments are not part of the platform at all.
Job and crew profitability cannot be read from tree data alone.
Every extra system is another place for the same job to be re-entered.
Smart CRM overlay
ArboStar solves these by being built specifically for tree care – not adapted to it.

FAQ

They solve different halves of the problem. ArborPro is a GIS tree inventory platform: it maps and catalogs trees for municipalities, universities, utilities and parks departments, and it is built for that. ArboStar keeps a tree inventory too, and then runs the business around it, including quoting, scheduling, crews, equipment, invoicing and reporting. If you need a defensible inventory dataset, look at ArborPro. If you need that inventory to feed proposals, crews and invoices, that is ArboStar.
ArboStar, because it is built for commercial operators who sell and deliver tree work. ArborPro is aimed at public agencies and asset owners managing an urban forest, and it does not offer CRM, estimating or invoicing (as of August 2026). A consulting arborist or a city forestry program may genuinely be better served by ArborPro, and that is worth saying plainly.
ArborPro provides detailed inventory reporting, including reports you can view and print, and compatibility with i-Tree for ecological benefit assessment. That reporting is about the trees. ArboStar adds business intelligence about the company: crew efficiency, job and service profitability, advertising return and sales performance, which is a different question from the condition of the urban forest.
ArborPro uses GPS to locate and record trees during inventory work. ArboStar uses GPS for both: trees are mapped, and crews, vehicles and equipment appear on a live job map so a dispatcher can see and move the whole operation in real time. Crew tracking is not something ArborPro sets out to do (as of August 2026).
Both work offline in the field, which matters because tree work happens where signal does not. ArborPro states that data collection, GPS inventory and tree assessments can be recorded with or without a connection. ArboStar has a dedicated offline module covering the full job, so crews can also work through their schedule, notes and job records and sync when signal returns.
Yes, and for most companies it is an addition rather than a replacement of the inventory itself. ArboStar includes free data migration, setup and training, with no setup fees, and most companies are running in two to four weeks. Existing tree records, properties and clients come across into the platform that also handles the quoting and the money.
ArboStar provides live support with an average response time under 5 minutes, and onboarding and training are included. ArborPro does not publish its support terms on its website (checked August 2026), so ask them directly what response times and coverage your contract would include.
